Austin Installfest #1The first Linux Against Poverty Install fest will take place on Saturday, August 1st. Our goal at the end of the day is to have 200 computers ready for donation to children in Central Texas. We have plenty of generous sponsors, plenty of volunteers. We can use more computers. Our crack team of installers can handle 200 computers easily. For more details, check out our Donate Hardware Page. The event will be held at GeekAustin favorite downtown hangout, Union Park. Because the event is on a Saturday afternoon, there will be plenty of places to park. Union Park is absolutely huge. Come watch Ken and the HeliOS team set up a regular assembly line. For those of you who would like to donate computers for the Install Fest, we will have valet curbside pickup at Union Park. You need only drive up to the taxi stand, and we'll have someone carry the computer(s) from your car, and provide you with a tax receipt. No CRT monitors, please. The install fest runs from 1PM-5PM. Following the install fest, we'll have a party at 6PM. Originally, we were going to ask for a donation at the door. However, I decided to make the party free for everyone -- just like Linux. The Facebook page for the party is here. Event Details Linux Against Poverty Austin Installfest #1 Hope to see you there! |
